fbmax — desktop application for Facebook Page content management

fbmax stores no data on any server of ours. Everything the app holds lives in a single file on the user's own computer. There is therefore no account to close and no request to submit — deletion is carried out by the user directly, and takes about a minute. The steps below remove every trace.

How to delete your data

  1. Revoke the app's access on Facebook.
    Go to Facebook → Settings & Privacy → Settings → Apps and Websites, find fbmax in the list, and choose Remove.

    This is the step that actually matters on Facebook's side: it immediately invalidates the user access token and every Page access token that was issued through it. Once removed, the application cannot reach any Page, even if a copy of the database still exists somewhere.
  2. Delete the local database.
    Close fbmax, then delete the database file and its companions from the installation folder: 
    fbmax.db
fbmax.db-wal
fbmax.db-shm
    This removes all stored Page information, tokens, publishing history, and statistics.
  3. Delete the encryption key.
    Open Windows Credential Manager (press Start, type "Credential Manager"), select Windows Credentials, find the entry named fbmax with user name master-key, and remove it.

    Without this key the database contents cannot be decrypted by anyone, so deleting it makes any leftover backup copy of the database permanently unreadable.

Optional: also delete the logs

Log files are kept in the logs folder of the installation directory. They never contain access tokens — where a token has to be referred to, only its last six characters appear — but they do record Page names and publishing activity, and can be deleted along with everything else.

Deleting published content

Posts already published to a Facebook Page are stored by Facebook, not by this application, and belong to the Page. Removing the app does not delete them. To remove a published post, delete it from the Page itself, through Facebook or Meta Business Suite.

Hướng dẫn xoá dữ liệu (tiếng Việt)

fbmax không lưu dữ liệu trên bất kỳ máy chủ nào của chúng tôi. Mọi thứ ứng dụng giữ đều nằm trong một tệp trên chính máy của người dùng. Vì vậy không có tài khoản nào phải đóng, không phải gửi yêu cầu cho ai — người dùng tự xoá, mất khoảng một phút. Ba bước dưới đây xoá sạch mọi dấu vết.

  1. Gỡ quyền của ứng dụng trên Facebook.
    Vào Facebook → Cài đặt & quyền riêng tư → Cài đặt → Ứng dụng và trang web, tìm fbmax, chọn Gỡ.

    Đây mới là bước có tác dụng thật ở phía Facebook: nó vô hiệu hoá ngay lập tức mã truy cập người dùng và toàn bộ mã truy cập của từng Trang đã cấp qua đó. Gỡ xong thì ứng dụng không với tới Trang nào được nữa, kể cả khi đâu đó còn một bản sao cơ sở dữ liệu.
  2. Xoá cơ sở dữ liệu trên máy.
    Đóng fbmax, rồi xoá các tệp sau trong thư mục cài đặt: 
    fbmax.db
fbmax.db-wal
fbmax.db-shm
    Thao tác này xoá toàn bộ thông tin Trang, mã truy cập, lịch sử đăng bài và số liệu thống kê.
  3. Xoá khoá mã hoá.
    Mở Windows Credential Manager (bấm Start, gõ "Credential Manager"), chọn Windows Credentials, tìm mục tên fbmax với tên người dùng master-key, rồi xoá.

    Không có khoá này thì không ai giải mã được nội dung cơ sở dữ liệu — nên xoá khoá làm mọi bản sao lưu còn sót lại vĩnh viễn không đọc được.

Tuỳ chọn: xoá thêm nhật ký

Tệp nhật ký nằm trong thư mục logs của thư mục cài đặt. Chúng không bao giờ chứa mã truy cập — chỗ nào buộc phải nhắc tới thì chỉ hiện 6 ký tự cuối — nhưng có ghi tên Trang và hoạt động đăng bài, xoá cùng cũng được.

Về nội dung đã đăng

Bài đã đăng lên Trang Facebook do Facebook lưu giữ, không phải do ứng dụng này, và thuộc về Trang. Gỡ ứng dụng không xoá các bài đó. Muốn xoá thì xoá trực tiếp trên Trang, qua Facebook hoặc Meta Business Suite.
